Typically sourcing external brands for their rooms and spas, hotels are now going a step further — developing their own. With this growing wave of in-house creations reflecting their own sense of place, we decided to put the best to the test.
Isn’t that what we want—a siren call to someplace rapturous? That is what prompted Le Sirenuse, the family-run Positano hotel founded in 1951, to distill its seaside glamour into Eau d’Italie. Launched in 2004 by Marina Sersale (now a second-generation co-owner) and her husband Sebastián Alvarez Murena, the original eau de parfum (Eau d'Italie Signature Eau de Parfum) features notes of sun-warmed terracotta, tuberose, and terraced lemon groves (plus a soupçon of circa-1960s Elizabeth Taylor mystique). A suite of fragrances has followed, including the 20th anniversary nod, Acqua di Positano: a love letter with citron, driftwood, and salt grains.
